Hope you had a happy birthday yesterday becky!
It has been a long week and this week isnt even over yet. the weather has been nice, but damp and dreary the past few days. I have been overworked and under paid =) and am having a hard time getting out by sierra and spending more than an hour out there- which is what she needs if we are going to reach our goals for the fair.
Mustang Makeover Challenge
Kristina and Bella-Sierra placed 23rd overall in the 2009 Midwest Mustang Challenge.

keep plugging along kristina! It will all be worth it in the end, and its bound to get better!
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain. Sometimes life gets in the way of the things we want to do. Just keep your chin up and remember that this about more than a completion. The real goal is to find good homes for the horses. You have taken on a challenge that most people would not have. You should be proud of yourself and content in knowing you are giving it your best shot.
ReplyDeleteDitto what the others have said, Kristin. There have been plenty of trainers who've either dropped out or weren't able to climb on their horses at these competitions. Building that solid foundation of trust is going to be the best gift you can give, and it won't matter if it's from on top or from the ground. Just keep chipping away at towards getting her quiet and gentle and you'll be a winner in my book!
ReplyDeleteHi Tracy! I came across this old blog and read your amazing words of wisdom. I still have Sierra and we are doing really well. You were so right! Our riding might not be where I would prefer us to be but I know when all is said and done I have a great horse in hand - one that nickers to me and enjoys attention. Looking forward to finally getting her showing training level dressage next summer
DeleteDITTO TO ALL OF THAT. SOLID FOUNDATION IS THE MOST IMPORTANT AND IF WE DO NOT HAVE THAT WE DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING AT ALL. JUST KEEP PLUGGING AWAY AND AS LONG AS IT'S POSITIVE IT WILL BE GREAT.
